"HIGHT.-- At his residence, in this place, on Saturday inst. 27th ult.,
William C. Hight, aged 47 years.
The deceased was a native of this county, and for the greater portion of
his life a citizen of this place and vicinity. He was a good citizen
and esteemed and respected by all who knew him and distinguished for his
urbanity, manners, and amiable deportment, and uniform kindness of heart
in all his intercourse with his fellow men. For over twenty years he had
been a member, and at the time of his death was a deacon of the Regular
Baptist Church in this place. His walk and conversation was in all
respects consistent with his profession; few having lived a more blameless
life, or experienced a more peaceful removal from the cares; the trials,
and sufferings of life to that state of happiness, which, in full fruition,
awaits the blood-washed and sin pardoned amid the Gener Assembly and
Church of the first born.
He leaves a large circle of friends and relatives but no family and amiable
wife. The only survivor of his family having preceded him two years to the
tomb. May our last hours be like his, as tranquil and as happy!"
