Gloria Esperanza Tunjano AVILAN

!LIVING
Gloria was born in Colombia and graduated from Lorencita Villegas de Santo
High School with a degree specializing in business. She attended three years
of a five year degree in the Autonoma de Colombia Law School but did not
graduate. She worked at Chehebar E Hijos, an international fabric company
for four years doing bookkeeping. In the summer of 1978 she traveled to
Bellingham to visit Godparents in Bellingham, Washington, where she met Bob
in the Western Washington University library. She married him on January,
28, 1980 in Bogota and moved to Pullman, Washington soon afterward. She
worked taking care of children and learned to speak English while working.
In 1982 she moved to Colfax and worked as a bookkeeper at Rima's Building
Supply. In April of 1983 Gloria became a U.S. citizen in a ceremony in
Spokane, Washington. In 1984 Gloria moved to Miami, Florida. In Miami
she worked for eight years for a public relations firm, P.R. Network,
until the company closed. Then she began a new career as a nurse's aide
doing home health care part time while taking care of her children.

Nancy married twice-- first when she was 18 to Henry Knees and later when
she was 40 to T.E. Brinkley. She had four children from her first marriage--
Eduardo, Lillie, Henry and Madison. She was living in Muscatine, Iowa in
1890. In 1880 she was widowed and living alone in Washington Twp, Washington
Co., IA, employed in dressmaking. The 1880 census showed both of her parents
from PA.
