Notes

Daniel Brown lived on a farm of 200 acres which was later owned
by John S. Warfel in 1883. The farm crossed across a hill called "Stone
Ridge," the northwest part of Henderson township, an area east and
southeast of the town of Huntingdon and a creek that passes through the
farm is known as "Brown's Run." Daniel Brown was a pioneer, meaning he
was the first who cleared the land for his farm.

The 1800 census shows Daniel Brown living in the Henderson
Township in Huntingdon County. He is listed as being over the
age of 45 which means he was born before 1755. His wife, Temperance,
was born between 1766 and 1774. Her maiden name may have been
Harrington-- the name Harrington is a name that was passed down
to their son Asahel Brown and their grandson Isaac Harrington Brown.

Daniel Brown had six children-- five daughters and one son,
Asahel H. Brown who was born in 1795. In 1810 Daniel Brown died
without a will and Asahel Brown was named the administrator of his
estate on December 10, 1810. Temperance Brown was listed as the
head of household in the 1820 census and after that I found no
further record of her.

Of Daniel Brown's children, Asahel moved to Iowa. Nancy became
the wife of James Hight of the town of Huntingdon. Mary married Henry
Hutchison, father of James Hutchison who was a farmer living in Henderson
Township in the 1880s. Sarah married George Hanawalt, who moved to
Iowa. Ruth married James Sloan of Henderson township. Elizabeth
married ---- Weaver, a school teacher, who moved to Iowa.
