Notes

From David Wilcoxon family records:
John Willcoxen is the first known American ancestor of the Wilcoxon line.
The spelling was changed by later generations.

John Willcoxen lived in Prince George's County, Maryland. He left a will
written May 6, 1712. On the back of the will appears an endorsement dated
September 22, 1716, that Stephen Jarman had appeared and swore that he
had witnessed the signature. On Sept. 27, 1716, William Lee did the same.
There is no record of land so evidently he rented as from his inventory it
appears he was a farmer. We do not know his exact age.

From: "Wilcoxon Of Maryland-- A Preliminary Study," by Donald Ray Barnes,
Certified Genealogist, Prince George's County Genealogical Society Bulletin,
February 1980, Vol. 11, No. 6, pp. 59-60.

"The date of John Wilcoxen's arrival in Maryland is not known. He does
not appear in the Maryland Archives. His will, 6 May 1712- 22 September
1716 (1), left his horse Phenix to his eldest son and also named him
Executor. The personal estate, L49.18.0 (2), was to be divided between
the widow, Magdalen, and sons John, Lewis and Thomas"

"Magdalen, the widow, married William Jervis/Jarvis by 17 October 1716,
when she signed (her mark) as next of kin to his inventory.(3) William
Jervis/Jarvis was in Maryland by 12 October 1713, when he warranted 100
acres called "Warwick." His will (10 June 1719 - 30 April 1720) named
his wife, Magdalen, as executrix and left her one half of his personal
estate. The remainder plus his 100 acres called "Warwick" was left to
his wife's son, William Wilcoxon, who was to be his own master at
eighteen years (5). As William was not mentioned in his father's will,
we can assume he was born after 6 May 1712 and possibly after 22
September 1716 (6)."
