Per Virgil Colwell: Clinton was killed instantly, one year after the death
of his wife, when a cyclone demolished the Verne Colwell Garage in which he
was at work on East Second St., Defiance, OH. His five children were without
parents.

Notes
While growing up he was hit in the jaw by a horse. Since his mother was
a Christian Scientist, he never saw a doctor and could never speak clearly
or hear well again. He lived in Elyria in a small trailer and worked on
the farm. He was killed when he was hit by a train, which he could not
hear because he was deaf. Other members of the family would occasionally
get "weird" letters from him. He often complained about the "guvment."
