Notes

There is a marriage recorded in the Pennsylvania archives between an Adam McConnell and a Jane McGiles on May 28, 1776. It makes sense that Adam would have a legally recorded marriage license because his father, William, was the first judge of Be dford County in 1771. The date is exactly when I would expect Adam to marry. Many genealogists believe that Adam married his first cousin, Jane/Janet McConnell, daughter of Robert McConnell. However, Robert was living in Allegheny County, PA be ginning in 1769 and daughters usually stayed with their parents until they were married. Based on this, the marriage to Jane McGiles makes more sense. There are not that many Adam McConnells, and this recorded marriage to a Jane in exactly at th e moment Adam did marry leads me to believe that this recorded marriage makes the most sense.

Since Adam was with William, he was probably in Kentucky from 1790-1798.

Along with his siblings he may have been among the first settlers of Cincinnati, Ohio in 1798.

Adam McConnell was one of the first settlers in Greene Co., OH. He is mentioned in an 1805 poll book.
Robinson's History of Greene County has him at Xenia Twp in 1806 along with a William McConnell.

1820 Census, Xenia Twp, Greene Co., OH. Indexed as "Adam McDonnell" although it looks like McConnell.
1 M 45+ (Adam), 1 M 26-45 (William?), 1 M 16-26 (Adam), 1 M 10-16 (Alexander).
1 F 45+ (Janet), 1 F 16-26 (Elizabeth), 1 F 0-10 (Unknown).

1830 Census, Xenia Twp, Greene Co., OH.
1 M 70-80 (Adam Sr.), 1 M 30-40 (Adam, Jr.), 3 M 0-5 (James C, William H., James P.)
1 F 20-30 (Martha J.), 1 F 5-10 (Margaret), 1 F 0-5 (Margaret).

Per Robinson's history, Adam McConnell, Sr. had a residence in Sugar Creek in 1816. He died April 23,
1841, aged 81; buried in Xenia.
