1850 Gabriel Pense / Nancy McConnell and John McConnell are at Monmouth Twp, Jackson Co., IA
1850 Oquawba Twp, Henderson Co., IL William Henry Pence and his family are there, but move by 1860 to join the others in Iowa.
1840 John Pense has a large family, really the family of Gabriel Pense. In the family is an unusually elderly man John McConnell. This is in Ward 6, Warren County, IL. Henderson County was formed out of Warren county IL in 1841.
1830 Isaac Pense is the only much older Pense in Bartholemew County, Indiana. I believe he was the father of Gabriel Pense.
Aug 9, 1827 Nancy McConnell and Gabriel Pence are married in Bartholomew County, Indiana.
There are no McConnells in the county for the 1830 and 1840 census.
1820 Isaac Pence in Concord Twp, Champaign Co., Ohio. The only Isaac Pence in the state with a 10-16 year old boy that Matches Gabriel Pences age.
Given this scenario, it would make sense that there were no more census records for John McConnell in Ohio/Indiana. The only opportunity would have been in 1820. By 1827 he was already in Bartholmew County Indiana and from there he soon move d to Warren County, Illinois (at least by 1832 when the next Pence child was born).
