Notes

George W. Clark lived in Niagra Co., New York until he was 18, at that age he
went to Canada where his father worked in a sawmill. He borrowed $5 from his
father. He went to Fort Dearborn (now Chicago) and went down the Illinois
River to the Mississippi down to St. Louis. Then he went by wagon train to
Pike's Peak, where he was a gold miner.
In 186- he enlisted in Company C of the 150th NY Infantry. He was at
Gettysburg, went in Hooker's division to Pittsburg Landing. Then in Sherman's
march to the sea. He was a sergeant and earned $13 per month for his service.
He married Sarah J. Chamberlain at Three Rivers, MI. She was born 4 Nov 1848
and died 23 Nov 1916 at Square Butte, Montana. They came to Oconee, Il, soon
after being married and lived on a farm near there, where he died March 1902.

George and Sarah are buried in the Clark Cemetery in Shelby Co, IL, near
Oconee, IL.
